  • “In China, for China”: Volkswagen Group is consistently strengthening its local technology competence in China. At Auto Shanghai 2025, the company is introducing its first self-developed automated driving system (ADAS), designed for especially seamless and safe driving experiences
  • Powerful full-stack solution: The system, developed by CARIAD’s joint venture CARIZON and trained by the intelligent AI-driven data platform GAIA, offers highly precise and fully safety-focused driving functions up to Level 2++, and paves the way for development toward Level 3 and beyond
  • Innovations for all: Volkswagen will implement the technology this year and integrate it into a new generation of Intelligent Connected Vehicles (ICV) for the compact segment starting from 2026—making highly automated driving accessible to more Chinese customers in entry-level vehicle segments
  • Ralf Brandstätter, Volkswagen AG Group Board Member for China: “The rapid progress in developing our new ADAS system highlights CARIZON’s technical capabilities and the implementation strength of our ‘In China, for China’ strategy. We are developing cutting-edge technology locally—at ‘China Speed’—tailored to our Chinese customers, with the highest standards in driving performance, safety and quality.”

Beijing. The Volkswagen Group is systematically expanding its local technology competence in China as part of its ongoing commitment to the “In China, for China” strategy. At Auto Shanghai, Volkswagen will debut its first proprietary AI-powered, highly automated driving system. Specially developed for China's complex traffic environments, the system is self-learning and engineered for both seamless and extremely safe driving experiences. Through an efficient System-on-Chip (SoC) with high computing power, it enables smooth, rapid responses to a wide range of driving scenarios. The group will present a Volkswagen-brand model with this technology in China before the end of this year. Starting next year, it will also be integrated into models based on the China-specific Compact Main Platform (CMP), marking it accessible to price-sensitive compact segment customers.

The specified fuel consumption and emission data does not refer to a single vehicle and is not part of the offer but is only intended for comparison between different types of vehicles. Additional equipment and accessories (additional components, tyre formats, etc.) can alter relevant vehicle parameters such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics, affecting the vehicle's fuel consumption, power consumption, CO2 emissions and driving performance values in addition to weather and traffic conditions and individual driving behavior. Further information on official fuel consumption data and official specific CO2 emissions for new passenger cars can be found in the "Guide to fuel economy, CO2 emissions and power consumption for new passenger car models", which is available free of charge from all sales dealerships and from DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, D-73760 Ostfildern, Germany and at www.dat.de/co2.
