“This year, we are celebrating a significant milestone for the Volkswagen Group. After 40 years, China remains our second home. We are proud to be a part of Chinese life, a part of Chinese industry and an essential part of the Chinese automotive history. For China, we have decided on a clear Target Picture 2030. Our aim is to remain the strongest international car manufacturer in China and to continue to rank among the top three automakers. This is an ambitious goal. And we are setting out on this long-distance race to transform the automotive industry from a position of strength.”![]()

“40 years of Volkswagen in China marks an outstanding success story. Today, almost 50 million people in China drive one of our cars. In the next 40 years, we will never stop in our mission to shape the future of mobility. We will achieve this through our consistent ‘In China, for China’ approach, expanding our own development capacities and forming strong partnerships with local tech-companies and OEMs to accelerate to ‘China speed’. A new model generation every three years. An upgrade to the electronics architecture every two years. An over-the-air update every month. This is the new drum beat for Volkswagen in China. Tonight provides strong evidence of our ‘In China, for China’ strategy. As we continue our journey, one thing is crystal clear: We will never stop our involvement with, and our commitment to, China.”![]()
